co-pilot prototype cover | april 18, 2005 It was decided that this cover would have made an acceptable 7th or 22nd cover, but that it lacked the accessibility needed for our introductory cover. It proved to be a savvy piece of manipulated industrial art, but ultimately would only speak to a fraction of the audience that we intended to reach. We needed a first cover with a very human touch, and thus, this cover was rendered 'prototype.' This cover stakes its historical claim on setting our cover format with the top and bottom bands of color, the font's and font sizes and a general vibe or tone that would be continued by future covers. The image is the outer wrapping of a toilet paper roll, which symbollically fits into the essence of the Co-Pilot Magazine by incorporating mundane found art and then attempting to elevate it. |
