post-modern art imitating post-modern art

With this cover, I tried so incredibly hard to create something that would embrace the ideals of post-modernism. Using an image of an existing cultural artifact, I added an intensified contrast and dramatic sepia-tone to fabricate an aura of ultimate importance. The face is of a mannequin behind the glass of a bridal shop in downtown Portland, OR.

I am aware that this image will elicit a reaction from every set of eyes that look upon it. There will be many opinions as to what the figure's expression means in conjunction with the monologue bubble. Is the statement uttered in relief? Are those words spoken in desperation? Is there a quiet longing evidenced in the image? Each set of interpretations validate the art to a further extent.

This cover serves as an excellent prelude to the principles that will guide the vision and creative path of the Co-Pilot Magazine. By a crucial over-examination of the trivialities of life, we endeavor to raise the mundane and overlooked to a uniquely hallowed ground of absolute import. We reserve the right to treat any potential subject matter as high art.
