self-loathing gives the appearance of wit
previous cover | order the t-shirt | next cover

For the face of a cop-out issue, in which we failed to reach our 'five new item' quota, we felt that honesty was important. Since under our new format, the cover art plays such a central role, we wanted our readers to realize from their opening interaction, that this particular week was a little slow.

The image was taken on a recent trip to Astoria, OR, the hometown of such films as the Goonies, Kindergarten Cop and the Ring 2. In the cover you can actually see both Mikey's house from the Goonies on the far left, and the school building that Arnold taught in on the right. So while the picture gives the appearance of being a dilapidated coastal town, we are actually looking at a location of cultural myth.

It is our hope that the history of our magazine reflects the metaphor illustrated in this photo. We have a proud past and hope to reclaim a satisfaction in our work once again. Unfortunately for our readers, this issue represented our Ring 2 phase. This was a rehash of what we have done before, with half the zeal and even less inspiration. We can give you excuses about being over-loaded and understaffed, or we can just admit that we didn't have it this week.
