STAFF BIOGRAPHIES
CO-EDITOR
Oyl Miller
Oyl Miller has a background in the holy trinity of sports, art and writing. He is an unyeilding fan of the Portland Trailblazers, who hopes to be involved with the winning entry in this year's 48 Hour Film Challenge. Miller also hopes to one day write an acclaimed trilogy of novels about 'the game of baseball and its generational transcendence.' Miller has found running the Co-Pilot to be a very rewarding experience and definitely thinks he is the one calling all the shots.
CO-EDITOR
Nate Smith
Nate Smith is a stand-up comedian in Portland with strong written skills and a penchant for video. Smith also hopes to be involved with the winning entry in this year's 48 Hour Film Challenge. Smith is always in the process of adding to his acclaimed comedy routine for upcoming gigs as well as a soon to be released DVD. Smith has enjoyed running the Co-Pilot while secretly controlling Miller's every move.
MUSIC REVIEWS
Ipodski
Again, with the lack of talent around our office, we were forced to solve some openings with a little ingenuity. The result is we are having the Editor's I-Pod review music. We realize it is a risky proposition to have a machine delegated to assign criticism, but this particular I-Pod seems to have both personality and taste.
CO-PILOT BROOKLYN
Garrett Palm
Garrett Palm asks you to please stay out of his basement. No, those are probably dead rats you smell. Garrett is a nice boy, so you should look elsewhere. Garrett is warning you, don't go in that basement. Garrett thinks you should get a warrant first. Oh, you have a warrant? Garrett didn't know they gave out warrants for smelly dead RATS. Garrett knows they're rats because he put them there, he collects dead rats in his basement, is that illegal? No, those are the screams of
rats late at night as I hunt them down.
POET LAUREATE
Sir Thomas Loin
Sir Thomas Loin is an award-winning poet (the Daniels Medal for short form, 1998) who frankly is selling himself incredibly short by agreeing to join the Co-Pilot. His use of atypical metaphorical imagery, coupled with his unique cultural perspectives have made him a favorite in the annals of the street poetry movement.
OPINIONS EDITOR
Eepious Tamiken
How do I begin to describe Eepious Tamiken? We'll let his unusual subject matter for columns and caustic rants, yell for themselves. Eepious uses the janitor's closet for his office, and types all manuscripts on his vintage 1937 Smith Corona. If you ever meet Eepious, avoid making any concrete statements, unless you are packing extra strength ear plugs.
GRAPHIC DESIGN EDITOR
Toledo Jones
Toledo Jones is the visual guru of the Co-Pilot. So if you think the design and look sucks, e-mail him. Toledo is also the unofficial theme song writer for the Co-Pilot. Because of him the entire staff has his "Fishing Pole" "song" stuck in their heads right now.
CO-PILOT NEW YORK OFFICE
Becky Adnot
Becky Adnot regularly roams the streets of Manhattan looking for new experiences, Co-Pilot material, and recently discarded food. In her spare time, she enjoys cartoons, gymnastics, and people with mullets. Please check out Becky's blog (http://beckyadnot.blogspot.com/) to find further musings and clever writings from this acclaimed staff member.
CO-PILOT LONDON OFFICE
Jo Plumridge
Jo Plumridge is British. But please don't hold that against her. Inbetween
drinking copious amounts of tea and being ironic, she is a freelance
photographer and writer. She has spent most of the last ten years travelling round the globe, occasionally putting pen to paper or picking up a camera. Some would see this as a blatent attempt to avoid getting a serious nine-to-five job. They would be right. Jo's main reason for agreeing to write for the Co-Pilot was that she found it very amusing. And frankly she was gobsmacked to find an American magazine that understood sarcasm. Her website address is www.joplumridge.co.uk
UNOFFICIAL MAGAZINE MASCOT
Captain Sharpie
Captain Sharpie's contributions may never be evidenced in the magazine. He is the retired Wal-Mart security guard that simply refuses to leave our headquarters. He sleeps on the sofa and dines from the vending machine. (Notice the perpetual derth of Funions...) What Sharpie does do, is make us all laugh and inspire us when it is 4 AM on a Monday trying to meet our 7 AM deadline.
